The children are taught in a morning in a mixed age class of  Year  one and Year two pupils by an experienced early years teacher. Reception children join the class for afternoon sessions.

The curriculum for Y1 to Y5 pupils comprises the core subjects of English (including Literacy), Mathematics (including Numeracy), Science and the foundation subjects of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), History, Geography, Music, Art and Design, Design and Technology, Physical Education and includes Religious Education and Collective Worship for all pupils.  Parents/guardians can exercise their right to withdraw pupils from Collective Worship and Religious Education, if they so wish.

In addition to the above, we are following the non-statutory guidelines for Personal, Social Health and Citizenship Education (PSHCE) and all pupils have short weekly French lessons.

Cross-curricular key skills are also developed including skills in:

  • Communication
  • Application of number
  • Information Technology
  • Working with others
  • Improving own learning and performance
  • Problem solving
Thinking skills help pupils to focus on learning how to learn and pupils are encouraged to develop these across the curriculum.
