Home-School Liaison PDF Print

Communication between school and home is frequently made by sending out regular newsletters, listing forthcoming meetings and events.

Each child in the Foundation unit has a ‘To & Fro Book' where communication between home and school is encouraged.  Most parents/guardians visit the school daily and we welcome their visits.

We hope parents/guardians will take an active part in their child's schooling, by spending time in the classrooms, looking at the work produced and seeing their child participating in a variety of activities.  All parents/guardians are requested to sign a Home-School-Child Agreement when their child starts nursery and school.

There is an 'Open Evening' for  parents/guardians, relatives and friends to visit  school and look more closely at what the children are doing.  It is also an opportunity for an informal chat with class teachers and to have a look around the school.

Also parents/guardians are offered the chance to  meet teaching staff at Parents/guardians’ Consultation Meetings annually, to discuss their child's progress.  However, it is likely that parents/guardians and teachers may wish to discuss a child's progress more often than this, so arrangements can be made when it is mutually convenient, to come into school.  In the Summer Term, all parents/guardians will receive a written report on their child's progress.

We are keen to encourage parents/guardians, grandparents or other members of the local community to come into school (preferably on a regular basis) and work alongside pupils, sharing their talents and abilities, helping pupils with a variety of activities.  If any parents/guardians are available during the school day and would like to help, please contact the Headteacher. Please note that all voluntary helpers will need to complete paperwork and be ‘checked’, as part of our ‘Safeguarding Children’ procedures.
